Newbridge, Kildare, Ireland.
Newbridge Silverware, was founded in 1934 as a cutlery manufacturer. Today the company manufacturers cutlery, jewellery and other giftware.
Located upstairs within the Newbridge Visitor Centre is the Museum of Style Icons. It contains numerous collections and artefacts relating to Stars of the Silver Screen and many modern day artists - including Audrey Hepburn, Marilyn Monroe, Princess Diana, Michael Jackson, The Beatles and many more.
Some years ago I visited the centre with my siblings and my mother. I forgot these pictures even existed… they brought back wonderful memories. I thought I’d share these pictures and my experience with fellow fans of Michael.
I was kind of in shock when I arrived to the MJ section of the museum. I had a hard time keeping myself together. Nothing but a thin pane of glass separated me from clothing worn by Michael. I stared in awe. I tried to film it but my hands were shaking. All I managed were these blurry pictures.
My mother told me to calm down, to get a grip but I just said "You don’t understand. You just do not understand what this means for me." Or for any MJ fan.
It’s indescribable. It’s the closest I will ever get to Michael and that’s something special to me, something I will treasure. I will no doubt visit this place again before I die…
If any other fellow MJ fans are ever here in Ireland, make sure to pop into the Museum of Style Icons in Newbridge - admission is free (which I can’t believe, isn’t that amazing?!) and it’s just a really great experience.
